Working in Partnership with Families

At The Mile House Therapeutic School we aim to work in close partnership with parents and carers, as we firmly believe that a collaborative and supportive approach to education ensures that children and young people feel appropriately safe and secure, and are therefore enabled to achieve success in their learning and in their lives beyond school.

Our core ethos and educational approach is centred around wellbeing, and is underpinned with the awareness that in order to effectively support students, families need to be consulted, informed and assisted.

Some of the ways we do this are as follows:

  • We publish a comprehensive admissions criteria, which is backed up by a supportive and informative admissions and induction process that takes into account parent/carer and student voice
  • We provide clear and transparent partnership expectations, with a detailed home-school agreement between school, parents/carers and students
  • We ensure open, and ongoing communications with parents and carers at all times
  • We provide regular formal reports and feedback opportunities that address wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, progress and attainment.

In addition to this, we  provide regular information to support confident parenting, such as online safety information, local parenting support, mental health and wellness resources etc.
